Wikis in Education

This year I´m using Wikispaces as a classroom program. Something totally new for students and I hope they take advantage of this tool.
Take a look at the presentation given by Viki Davis on Wikis. It´s very complete and a good resource if you are planning to add them to your classes this year.
Watch what educators have to say about Pbwiki.
I created a new Open ESL Classroom blog. The idea of this blog is to communicate with students after class and to get to know each other better.

Flock

I am writing this post directly from Flock. I´m not struggling with all my passwords. From here you enter directly all the blogs that you want and all your favourite bookmarks.
Just open a file in your Flock navigator and start writing. It´s a piece of cake!!!!

I´ve started another Blog with Wordpress. It´s part of the assigments for Open Webpublishing at EVO. If you want to take a look at it. It´s about My Technology Integration journey.

In Wordpress:
- You don´t have to know about programming. It´s easy to use and the tutorials are excellent. -You have great videos that walk you through this new blogging experience.

-Best features
-You can have static pages where you generally write about yourself, projects, upcoming events etc.
-To upload videos and pictues it´s simple.( you can´t use slideshare)

Try it yourself and you will see that it´s easier than using Blogger.

A Learning Technology Iniciative

Wow!!! Is what I can say about Maine´s Learning Technology Iniciative I really hope to see something similar in my country.

This month I´m taking Evo 07 sessions and I´m already excited that training will start in one week. All the moderators and co-moderators are great. I hope to meet many of you there.

I am constantly receiving emails on training courses. That´s why I thought that it would be a great idea to share with other ESL teachers seminars, conferences, workshops or courses worlwide.
I created a yahoo group on Professional Development for Teachers. I hope that together we are able to share and learn how to incorporate IT into our classes.

Updating

So many things happened since I last wrote something in my blog. I finished my
Iearn course. What´t Iearn?

" Started in 1988, iEARN is the world's largest non-profit global network that enables teachers and young people to use the Internet and other new technologies to collaborate on projects that both enhance learning and make a difference in the world."

The Spanish version is called Telar. My group was great and my instructor constantly helped us. For sure I will incorporate Learning Circles next year in my classes.

I´ve created a Yahoo 360 for my daughters. I have to thank Mary Hills from Learning with computers because she gave me this idea and it´s really great. I also found that Yahoo 360 is a powerful tool and very easy to use. You just need time to sit and follow instructions on how to use it!!

I´m working hard because there will be a big surprise soon about a new project I´m creating with a cyber friend.

Ok let´s share cool technology tools. As a new bookmarker I found Magnolia to be quite good. Personally the best one is Blinklist and I also use Delicious.

There is and excellent site I want to share with you all. It´s Teachers teaching teachers and I found many good articles about Blogging.

So let´s continue Blogging but more professionally.

Computer Tools that Support Learners

I just found this site which in a way summarizes all the things I still have to learn in order to be a better teacher. My ultimate goal in incorporating technology into my classes is to improve learning and my own teaching.

If you are a teacher interested in using technology in your classes this is a must!!

Check it out and let me know what you know about it all!!

Take a look!!!

New Tool Yack Pack!!

I found this new tool very interesting to use for online, collaborative projects because it is simple to use, provides a rich, fun, and rewarding way to communicate and share, and can be accessed any time, anywhere via the internet.

What is YackPack? Yack Pack

YackPack is an Internet service that allows you to record your voice and share the recording with a private group online. Through the richness of audio, YackPack helps you connect with people wherever they live, whatever their language or age, and whenever they want to listen.

Hope you find it interesting as well!!

Technology

I just came across this expression and would like to share it with you.

Technology will never replace teachers -- but, those who use technology will replace those who do not.

What do you think about it?

What´s a blog?

I´m sure you never used this application for learning. Lets start by understanding the meaning of what is a blog.
"Recently many people have turned to "blogs"as an alternative to traditional websites and discussion lists. Blogs are web diaries with buit-in tools that allow users to publish information on the web in much the same way they use a text program.Unlike traditional websites, blogs are automatically updated each time a person publishes a new ¨posting¨.
